" I am a dancer. I believe that we learn by practice. Whether it means to learn to dance by practicing dancing or to learn to live by practicing living, the principles are the same. In each it is the performance of a dedicated precise set of acts, physical or intellectual, from which comes shape of achievement, a sense of one’s being, a satisfaction of spirit."

My name is Jessica Pendry, and I am the dance teacher at Ridge Road Middle School. I have danced since the age of 4, and when asked what I should do with the rest of my life, I knew that I would not be able to part with dancing.
I am a North Carolina Teaching Fellow, and I received my BA from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in Dance Education.
The students at Ridge Road have inspired me with their passion and enthusiasm for dance. I look forward to seeing how far our Ravens will soar in the years to come.
North Carolina Dance Theater Award
During the 2013-2014 School Year I was announced as the "Dance Teacher of the Year" by North Carolina Dance Theater.
I feel fortunate and lucky that I can serve in a district like Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools that understands the value of dance as it relates to the positive growth of students.

My name is Megan McAlister and I am currently in school to become a dance educator in the public school system. I am a California native who has been dancing and performing since the age of 3. I began teaching in high school and knew immediately that dance would always be apart of my life. Dance has led me to travel across the country to pursue my dreams. I have had the opportunity to travel all the way to Turin, Italy to train for 3 weeks. I am planning on dancing through my whole career and seeing where this art form can take me. I am a lover of all styles of dance and have a passion to continually learn new techniques and further my own dance experience. I learn everyday from my students and look forward to a great semester with you all! |
